AI System Usage is a menu-bar meter for your Mac. It reads processor, memory, storage, graphics, power, fan, and recognized-AI-app information on that Mac and shows it there. AGM Apps does not receive those readings. The app has no account, advertising, analytics, or tracking, and the app itself does not make network requests.
The in-app Privacy Policy and Terms of Use links open in your browser. That is a normal visit to agmapps.net by the browser. The meter readings are not attached to it.
This policy explains how the AI System Usage macOS application handles information. The separate AGM Apps Website Privacy Policy explains what happens when you visit agmapps.net, including ordinary requests to the site's hosting, font, and icon providers.
When this policy says AGM Apps does not collect app data, it means the app does not send that data to AGM Apps. AI System Usage still reads the local system values it needs in order to draw the meter.
AI System Usage does not send AGM Apps:
AI System Usage reads the following information to provide its features. Unless a sentence below says otherwise, these values stay in memory and are not written down as a history.
The app reads the processor marketing name macOS publishes, the number of logical processors, performance and efficiency cluster names, overall processor use, and per-core use. It keeps up to 60 one-second samples of overall processor use, and of the share attributed to recognized AI apps, so it can draw the short graph. Those samples are discarded when you quit.
When the Mac publishes fan speeds, the app reads them in revolutions per minute through the System Management Controller. A speed of 0 means that fan is stopped. If this Mac has no readable fan, the fan line is left off. In the Mac App Store build, that access is read-only.
The app reads physical memory size, app memory, wired memory, kernel tag storage, compressed memory, cached files, free memory, swap used, swap size, whether swap is encrypted, and the kernel's memory-pressure level. Memory used is app memory, wired memory, kernel tag storage, and compressed memory added together. The Wired line does not include kernel tag storage.
The pressure graph keeps up to 180 one-second samples. Its height follows the kernel pressure band. Compression, swap, and free memory move the line inside that band. The samples are discarded when you quit.
Each sample, the app reads the executable path of running processes and compares it with a built-in list of known AI apps and local model tools. That list includes Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Grok, Ollama, and other tools shipped with the app. For up to 30 script interpreters in a sample (Python, Node, Bun, or Deno), the app may also read a short command line, limited to 16 arguments and 4,000 characters, only to see whether that process is one of those known tools.
The meter shows the tool's name, processor use, memory, and process count. It does not show the path or the command line, and it does not show your other apps. A helper process started by a recognized tool is counted with that tool. The app does not count itself.
A path for a recognized tool is held in memory only until the next sample, so the meter can calculate processor use. Command lines are not kept after that check. The list can miss a tool. A later version may recognize a different set. Paths and command lines from this step are not sent to AGM Apps.
For the internal drive, when macOS publishes the values, the app reads the drive model name, capacity, the drive's percentage-used figure shown as life remaining, temperature, lifetime bytes written, lifetime bytes read, bytes written since startup, free and total space on the startup volume, and a low spare-capacity warning. Life remaining is 100 minus the drive's reported percentage used, limited to a range of 0 to 100. It is the drive's own wear figure, not a forecast of when the drive will fail.
The model name is the drive's model, not your Mac's serial number. The app reads these values through IOKit and Apple's disk-space interfaces. In the Mac App Store build, access to the drive's SMART user client is read-only. The app's privacy manifest declares the disk-space API for the purpose of displaying disk space to you.
When the graphics driver publishes them, the app reads the GPU model name, device utilization, renderer utilization, and in-use system memory. If a value is missing, that part of the card is omitted.
On a Mac with a battery, the app reads charge, charging state, adapter information when available, charge health, cycle count, design cycle count, battery temperature, time remaining, Low Power Mode, and the thermal state. It calculates a system-power figure on the Mac from values the hardware publishes. That figure can differ from the watts printed on a charger or from an external meter.
On a desktop Mac, the app reads thermal state and Low Power Mode, and it says there is no battery. Missing values are omitted rather than invented.
If you turn on Open at login, macOS registers AI System Usage as a login item through Apple's ServiceManagement framework. You can turn it off in the app, or in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions. The app does not keep its own file of meter readings. macOS stores the login-item choice.
The Mac App Store build runs inside the macOS App Sandbox. It has no network entitlement. It does not upload readings, process paths, command lines, hardware details, or settings to AGM Apps, and AGM Apps does not operate an app backend that receives them.
The App Store build has two extra sandbox permissions, both used only for the readings in Section 3. It may open the drive's SMART user client and the SMC user client, read-only, for drive wear and fan speed. It may read process information so it can recognize the AI tools in Section 3.3 and add up their processor use and memory.
A development copy, before the Mac App Store release, may run outside the sandbox. It uses the same reading code. It still does not contain code that sends those readings to AGM Apps.
The in-app Privacy Policy and Terms of Use links ask macOS to open this policy or the Terms of Use in your browser. The browser then makes an ordinary request to agmapps.net. The site host can see the connection information described in the website privacy policy. The app does not attach meter readings, paths, or command lines to that request.
The current app has no in-app purchase and no AGM Apps account. If a later Mac App Store version is offered for a price, Apple processes that transaction under the Apple Privacy Policy. AGM Apps does not receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple Account credentials.
Separately, Apple may provide developers with privacy-protected App Store metrics and crash information from people who choose to share diagnostics and usage information with Apple and app developers. Apple controls that collection and applies privacy thresholds to its reports. AI System Usage does not add its own analytics code, and Apple does not provide AGM Apps with the readings in Section 3 through those reports. You can manage analytics sharing in macOS System Settings.
AI System Usage contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, tracking SDK, social-media SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. It does not use an advertising identifier or create an AGM Apps user profile. Its runtime frameworks are supplied by Apple as part of macOS or the Apple developer SDK, including Swift, SwiftUI, AppKit, IOKit, and ServiceManagement.
The app does not contact a weather service, an update server, or any other third-party API. The only off-Mac step is the browser opening the legal pages when you choose those links.
If you email AGM Apps, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include, such as your name, Mac model, screenshots, or diagnostic details. Please do not send information that is not needed to answer your question. We use support messages only to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and keep reasonable business records. We retain them only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required by law.
Email is delivered through Microsoft Outlook and is subject to the Microsoft Privacy Statement. AI System Usage does not automatically attach readings, process paths, or diagnostic files to a support email.
Live readings and the short graphs stay in memory and are dropped when you quit. A recognized tool's executable path is replaced on the next sample. Command lines are not stored. The login-item choice remains with macOS until you change or remove it.
If a fan or processor reading fails, the app can write a short entry to the Mac's local log. That entry says the reading failed. It does not include the meter values, and the app does not transmit it. A developer testing option can print the current reading in a Terminal window on the same Mac. That output stays on the Mac and is not sent to AGM Apps.
The App Sandbox and code signing limit what the released app can reach, but no software can guarantee absolute security.
AI System Usage is a general-purpose Mac utility and is not directed to children. The app does not create accounts or send usage data to AGM Apps. If a child contacts us for support and a parent or guardian asks us to delete that message, they may contact us using the address below.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information AGM Apps holds about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or complain to your local privacy authority. This includes residents of the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, and residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws.
For users in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, AGM Apps, established in the State of Florida, United States, is the controller for support messages you send us. We process them on the basis of our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in answering your request and keeping reasonable records. Because email is handled by Microsoft, a message may be processed in the United States under Microsoft's data-transfer safeguards.
AGM Apps does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because AI System Usage does not send app activity or device readings to AGM Apps, most requests to AGM Apps will concern only information you voluntarily sent in a support message. Apple handles information under its own policy. We may need enough information to locate and verify relevant AGM Apps correspondence, but we will not ask for unnecessary identification.
To make a privacy request, email [email protected]. We will acknowledge it within 10 business days and respond within 45 days, or sooner where applicable law requires.
We may update this policy when AI System Usage's features, distribution, or information practices change. The date at the top will show when the revised policy takes effect. If a future version begins sending new categories of information to AGM Apps, we will update the policy and provide any notice or choice required by law.
